Chicken with Abdominal infection

Internal laying can cause liver disease, the liver is a filter that has to clean up all the toxins the body is producing from yolks being deposited. These toxins build up in the liver and will eventually cause disease and failure. When the liver ruptures it leaks into the abdomen and surrounding tissue.

View attachment 1430901 Thank you all for your recommendations. I tried the antibiotics for 4 days. She was showing no improvement and had stopped eating and drinking on her own. I decided that there was no need to prolong her suffering so my vet agreed to euthanize her for me. Have any of you ever seen/dealt with blackish green fluid draining from a hens abdomen? I’m just curious as to what might have caused this. She was laying up until the time she started acting lethargic last week.
I am sorry for your loss and want to thank you for sharing.
May I ask what you fed her on a daily basis?
