CHICKEN WITH BLACKHEAD DISEASE please help !!

So I'd love to hear again that it is not Blackhead! Thoughts?

I can’t be sure what it is but I would definitely send her in for necropsy they will be able to tell you what happened do not freeze her but you can refrigerate her

Sorry for your loss. I *really* doubt it's blackhead, but it would be easy enough to find out, just cut her open and take a look at her liver and ceca. Let me go find some pictures.

So here are some pics if i can get my phone to cooperate. I am sad to say she died this morning. You can see the black on her wattles. I believe the black on her beak is not natural coloring. I took a couple pics of her post mortem too to show the black mottling on her face which is not natural coloring. Weirdly the black on her comb faded when she started the metronidazole but you can still see it. I hope i havent sounded snippy but its because i am so frustrated and sad when im helpless to know what it is.

So very sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful hen.

Other than the weight, he looks great, and it's hard to imagine he dies three hours later. Scary disease for sure!

Ive already buried her. I suppose i could get a friend to help me and dig her up again. I got that advice from someone else but i couldnt bring myself to do that alone

Ive had necropsies done before as i said in my previous post. Not for years though. Bc the last time I had one done it was very expensive...over 100.00...and they were so unfriendly j swore I would never go back. Ohio doesnt like backyard flocks as i said before. In fact theres a saying widely known among people who keep among people who keep poultry or wild animals here in yhis area which says " stay away from the FDA". Pretty much says it all. And really at this point...whether it is or isnt...(other than finally knowing) what is the point? ..shes dead. I cant treat her. I can only try to be proactive in protecting the rest of the flock as best i can.

Yeah I get that is there any way you can get a friend or someone cut her open for you then take pics and post them here and our experts will be able to help determine her cause of death if it’s something that can be seen without special tests so you know what it was and how to treat your flock. I’m really sorry that she ended up dying and I really hope no more do.
