It's hard to confirm without a necropsy.Interesting so how can you confirm it?

Thank you I hope my chickens never get it but at least I know something!
Thank you. She started acting very lethargic, won't eat much, drooping wings, ruffled feathers. I can't tell about her droppings because I haven't seen any, so I'm guessing she has diarrhea. She's a black hen anyway, but now more black is coating her face and beak, it covers more every day. And her comb is lined with black which is also increasing. I am so worried because this is a very contagious disease and we have peafowl and chickens. We've had poultry twenty years and I have never seen this, but I read that it is becoming more common in chickens because of contributing weather conditions....hot, rainy weather, which we've had for at leasr part of the summer.how can you tell if your chickens have blackhead?? I hope your hen gets better!
Call it dark then. I actually found images online of chickens with blackhead, and it matches. If it's not blackhead, what else could it be? I've researched for days and everything points to blackhead as far as her symptoms. It is not frostbite, bruising, or fowlpox. I think she is dying. I am tempted to have a necropsy done so we know, but last time I had one done, it was very expensive here and the personnel at the ag department were not especially friendly. They aren't thrilled about backyard flock owners here, since Ohio is a big commercial egg producer. The black has extended to her wattles now. I'll post a few pics later.Blackhead does not make their head turn black.
Can you get pics of the bird show anywhere that has changed at especially the black head and comb. As @casportpony Said blackhead does not cause the chickens head to turn blackThank you. I have a couple, my phone is dead so I will add later. I didn't have anyone to help me get her out just to take pictures, so they're not the best, but I think you'll see. It was weird because once I started her on the meds, some of the black left her face, and she did rally, she was up walking around in her pen, and drinking, yesterday and the day before, and she was eating her food when she thought I wasn't looking. She's a very shy bird. But today she is huddled in the corner and I can tell the outlook is not great. I don't want to bother her further unless she revives somewhat. I did wonder about some type of organ failure that might cause the symptoms she has, especially since the remainder of the flock seem fine, there's no sign of anyone else showing any symptoms of anything. Can you get pics of the bird show anywhere that has changed at especially the black head and comb.
