Hello everyone,
I rescued a chicken that was going to the slaughterhouse two weeks ago.
Unfortunately, she is sick. It seems to be a coryza.I have been giving her antibiotics for a week (Doxycycline).
She is eating well. One of his eyes is swollen, hard and close. She still has a slightly runny nose.
If anyone has an idea for his eye ?
Weight :3 pounds
Age : 18 months

Thanks,

Welcome To BYC

I'm sorry about the hen.

Does she have a really bad odor? Infectious Coryza reportedly has a very bad odor.

I agree, she has pus in the eye, you can try pushing it out and cleaning out the eye really well or lancing it. Saline can be purchased at stores like Walmart and CVS. It would be a good idea to use an ointment like Terramycin eye ointment (or generic you buy online through amazon) to put into the eye 2x a day.

IF you are dealing with Infectious Coryza, you may need a Sulfa Antibiotic to treat symptoms instead of Doxy which may not be as effective.

Lasty, it's commendable to rescue a hen, but do consider that what she has is very likely contagious and if it is Infectious Coryza, she will be a carrier for life, even if she recovers. This respiratory disease can be spread to existing flock(s) and you'll want to be aware of that if you have other chickens or fowl so you can decide if the risk is worth the reward.
