Chicken without a tongue?

She's definitely a special bird so wouldn't surprise me if you found more oddities over time. My special needs bird kept revealing more oddities as she aged - she'll never be "normal" but she gets by ok just as she is.

Yea shes an odd one. a bit aggressive too. always eating tail feathers of other chicks and her own. I don't mean she just pecks. she will grab on and rip feathers out then eat them.
they get 18% protein starter feed from Purina, scratch every few days. 1/8 mini watermelon for 5 chickens the watermelon goes very fast.... they almost do backflips when i bring it to them.
so I know they eat well. sometimes RARE i was giving them bread but after Vanilla choked on it and i found shes got no tongue i stopped giving bread. they don't seem to like scratch grains though. they eat only the corn in it. and leave all 4 of the other seeds. lol

I tried using no-peck but she still does it.

Weird that she'd eat her own tail. I guess you could try upping protein even more (or just supplementing her) but might just be something off with her that's making her do it.

yea i give them scrambled eggs when i have eggs. I don't like eggs so rare if i get any. once the chicks start laying I usually give them to my neighbor as she likes eggs. and sometimes I give them cashews. they love cashews and peanuts. but I have to put them into a grinder and powderize them. they get tons of protein. maybe too much?

their feeding schedule

every day: starter feed(always kept full) they are pigs and fill up 3 times a day eating it.
every other day: watermelon
every 3 or 4 days scratch grains
1 time a week cashews and peanuts.(when i get them) unsalted dry roast!
once a month I give them some mashed potato without skins no milk, with garlic and no salt

and 3 days out of the month i put vetrx under their wings when i see any sneezing etc. seems to knock it out instant lol

I have no idea how good nuts are/aren't for chickens (obviously mine don't get any). Is she the only one that tries to eat the feathers?

yea. the one with no tongue eats feathers. she didn't do it till about a week ago i noticed shes getting aggressive eating it. i know they got enough room as they got my entire living room so i know thats not it.

no mites, no bugs. i think shes just being aggressive because she knows shes not the same as the other chicks and don't want picked on sio shes picking on them? i don't know. its not an issue i think. i had a vent pecker and that was a problem. i think she will grow out of it. if not i have no clue. but for now i tell her no and put her in the brooder and she stops.
till the next day lol

also @Wyorp Rock giving her the 100u vitamin D for 2 days now as it finally shipped. her beak is now getting hard and not soft. that was a good call on the vitamin D

Sadly I had to cull vanilla she was showing symptoms of a neurological problem, she stopped eating and drinking and would not move from one spot. she just stood in the corner of the coop and was shaking her whole body very violently for 2 days. so i went to the vet and I was told by the vet that she was only going to get worse. her brain was not growing from some disease. I forget what she said was the cause. it was some odd long name.
