I actually purchased chickens in part because of the work involved. A lot of my work is quite sedentary. Having to tend to the chickens means I have to get up & move! I enjoy them & was well aware they are destructive & have some fairly grotty habits but seriously, my girls LOVE coop cleaning days! Not only do they arrive in droves to help they head to bed early to enjoy the fresh hemp bedding. Nothing like being appreciated!

I am currently banned from TSC ... by my children. It seems that Chick Days are about to start and I am not allowed anywhere near the bins. {{...Sigh ...}}

I know the feeling. I went to the feed store and they had some really cute chicks in a tub. I had to force myself to walk away. I’m already looking at extending my run because I feel like the ones I have need more room.
