Chicken's droping runny, yellow, and moldy?

yellow, runny and clear droppings, with what appears to be black mold? Or spots in her droppings?

@Madelynn Hayes
Can you post some photos of the poop and of her (especially the bottom)
When you say she dropped her bottom-what do you mean?
  • Does she have a swollen bottom
  • Is her vent prolapsed and tissue is sticking out
  • Is she walking very upright like a penguin
When was the last time she laid an egg?

With older chickens, they can sometimes start having problems with their reproductive system. With more information, we may be able to give you better suggestions for her care.

Do the best you can to keep her drinking and let us know how she is.

I have a hen named Sassy, a Road Island Red, and around 3 days ago, she started showing a lot of pain in her abdomen. She dropped her bottom and she had a hard time walking. My sister and I didn't understand what could be wrong, so we placed her in a bath and washed her abdomen. Unfortunately, she hasn't gotten better, and I believe she will not live much longer.
I researched as much as I could but couldn't find an answer. Sassy has yellow, runny and clear droppings, with what appears to be black mold? Or spots in her droppings?
If you know what this has caused my hen to suffer, please let me know!
:'(
A photo really would help... but I had a pullet in January that started having bright yellow poop. Coccidosis was suggested & I had started treatment, but I was able to find a local vet who did see chickens. Turns out she had an abdominal tumor (diagnosed through internal exam, no necropsy). She'd always been a little off. Walked like a penguin, but laid eggs, ate and drank just fine. I assumed it was just how her breed walked as she was the only one of that kind we had. She also couldn't jump until much later than my other chickens. When she'd try to get into the coop she'd end up flying backwards.
Photos of her poop are below.
I see where you say you can't afford to take her to the vet, which I completely understand. If you haven't done it already, Smuvers suggestion to do an internal exam would be my first step. You'll be able to feel an egg if it is a case of an egg bound hen, and possibly if there is a tumor in there.
Here's a link w/ some good info about how exactly to do an exam, but you can certainly find others and possibly videos by googling if you need more instructions.

Treatment: What Do You Do For an Egg Bound Chicken? part.

This site has good info on chicken poop (w/ photos).
http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/whats-scoop-on-chicken-poop-digestive/

In the case of my chicken, the vet said as the tumor grew it was pushing on her other organs which caused the yellow poop. Since chicken's hormones are always 'on' to produce an egg every day or so they're inclined to develop these tumors.

I hope you're able to figure out what's going on with your hen. Good luck.

I did ask for help on mice, as well as help for Sassy. You both provided answers, and I thank both of you in your kind efforts to help me.

Last night Sassy passed away peacefully.

I will try my best to prevent further deaths with this new knowledge. Thank you!
