Hello! We have 25 hens and they all are good laying breeds( Buff orpington, Wyandottes, Brahmas, New Hampshires, Golden Comets...) . This is the fourth winter for 7 of them. Third winter for 9 of them, and second winter for 9 others. It is winter and we only got 1 egg today and none yesterday or the day before. They did have mites but we think the mites are gone. Are they healthy? They are so bored because of all the snow and they scratch all the hay out of their nesting boxes. We go through about 1-2 50lb. bags of feed a week. We also have 7 ducks and they eat a lot. We should be getting at least ten eggs a day.

Oftentimes, the change in season triggers a biological reaction that causes the birds to stop laying. Hope this helps.
