Chickens friendlier after starting to lay??

So 4 out of 9 of our hens are laying (I think number 4 started this morning because I woke up to the lovely egg song) 2 RIRs and 2 WRs, and I feel like everyone's friendlier since they started?? Like today when I went out to care for them, one of my rocks got on top of the dog house beside me (they lay in the dog house) and jumped on my shoulder!! And after I left the run, she was trying to get to me it's not just the chicken hens that have gotten friendlier after, my Rouen duck has gotten friendlier around me as well. So I don't know if it's just coincidence or egg laying has actually made them more friendly. But I just thought this was interesting to share

Mine did that too. And I wish they would stop liking me and keep their distance. I don't want to step on them and hurt them but as soon as I open the patio door to go outside to their yard, they are right by the gate waiting for me

I'm with you! I've bumped them with my foot a couple of times, because they'll be right by me :| while I appreciate that they trust me enough to follow me, I'd really like to be able to walk! ha

I have been throwing tomatoes in their yard just before I open the gate. That gets most of them out from underfoot, but I have this one Barred Rock that just won't leave me alone. She grabs my shoelaces every single time...they seem to fascinate her (or she just wants me to trip)

They are always underfoot of course. She was horrible about it. I still miss her.
