Chickens getting sick and dying

Yesterday I had a hen walking around kinda funny, it looked like it was starring off into space, sometimes it would just stand there. I tried putting it in cold water just in case and almost immediately it went to its laying area, I left it there for the night, I woke up and she was dead. Does anyone know what this is that is causing this? because I have another chicken doing something similar but not to sure yet. PLEASE AND THANK YOU!!!!

I need a little more info to help you with this one. like what color was its poop? what do you mean by staring into space? how was it walking? was it eating? was it drinking? was it a hen or rooster? how old was it? have you conducted a postmortem exam on her? and why did you put it cold water?

It could be sour crop depending on how old the hen is,th eolder the hen/rooster the faster the death with this blockage/infection, sour crop is like having a sour stomach ace to humans and sence we can vomit to help chivkens can't do there will be a blockage still. And if you tried picking her up whitish liquid might come out of her back but dont panic, it just means its over flow, another way to tell if she has it is if her exhale has a sour oder (hense the name sour crop) how to treat it is to give her a couple drops of olive oil mixed with warm water and after that dont feed or give her water for 12 hours and through out those hours machase her crop(the crop is at her breast and when you machase it you may hear swishing if you listen closely) and after that just give her some water scrambled eggs or hard boiled and some plane yogurt with probotics in it and some of her food pelets
