Chicks are hatching but lost one

I have 8 eggs under a hen. Yesterday was 21 days. One hatched late yesterday afternoon and 2 more by morning. One had piped and beak was moving around 2pm but at 7pm, it beak was out but it was dead. I opened it and it appeared well formed. Not others seemed to be doing anything and now I am paranoid. How long should I wait or should I do something. I had a long day at work tomorrow and no one will be home.

Not all chicks hatch at the same time. That's quite normal. A baby may hatch the night before and the others hatch during the night/next day. I'd say wait 2-3 days...Momma usually stays on her nest to let most of the chicks hatch.

We did have one more hatch but 3 have not and it has been almost 72 hours from the first one, should I take them out?

if you do it do it slow like poke a hole in the air cell end then wait atleast 12 hrs. for the chick to strengthen his lungs. and stop if you see blood
