Bikerchic: I do not know, our property is covered with fox, hawks, raccoons, possum and owls. The nature of her injury leads me to believe it was a fox or perhaps a dog, during the day when she was free ranging but then how did she get away? So my next best guess is that it was an owl reaching into the run at night, but couldn't pull her through the fencing. I did find her like this in the morning, after a night when my son said two of the leghorns stayed out of the coop and roosted high up in the run. He figured they were safe since the run is enclosed.
Hot2Pot: Thank you, she's doing great, eating, drinking, and eliminating. I don't think this was the work of one of her chicas, the wound is pretty severe. All of her feathers, 1/2 the skin and a chunk of flesh is missing from her right flank. and by the way, I have been drooling over the eggs you've been putting on auction, your birds are beautiful!
