Chicks for Christmas ! Submit your holiday chick pictures contest on!

I just went and candled my broodys eggs. That thief had 7 extra eggs! Luckily only 1 had any development. I brought it in and added it to the incubator. I have no idea what day it's on but couldn't bring myself to dispose of it. She has 2 that are due this Friday. Now to figure out how to get her and them out of coop. She's in a high box and there are some mean hens that I don't want around the peeps!

We finished the broody coop yesterday, well except for some more trim painting. Holly and the Carols were already settled in there and this morning I moved Gracie and her eggs. They are due on the 5th. It was a smooth, so far, transition. They'll need each other to keep warm as it's supposed to get very cold. My son and I dug out the broodie under the coop yesterday and closed her up in a nest box hoping for the best. Come this morning we peeked and she was raring to go. Had strewn her eggs everywhere. We threw out four ice cold ones and tried to catch her to lock her into a cat carrier ( after she had a drink and some feed) but she'd have no part of it and ran off to join the flock. My son is very concerned about these particular eggs so we're trying the great broody experiment. We put the eggs in the crate, captured my other notoriously broody hen, who for once is very inconvenienlty NOT broody and we stuffed her in the crate and threw a towel over it. Crossing my fingers that she'll be inspired. I don't have an incubator and don't really feel like trying these in the toater oven. I didn't keep track of when she went under the shed so I don't know how old the eggs are. My son broke one of the cold ones open and the chick has a big head and eyes and a little slip of a body.

I have a broody silky that is not satisfied with the Serama eggs I gave her. She keeps collecting silkie eggs and I have to keep sorting them.
Ok, how many chick pictures do we have so far? I am going to set a deadline of next Monday for submissions, because these chicks are growing fast and we want cute fuzzy chick pics:) More Pictures!!!

does anyone know about how many ounces each (week old) chick should be eating daily? for that matter, how much should i be feeding them until they are full grown. i've been refilling their feed dish whenever i see it empty - i figure they can regulate it themselves. on many of my larger ones their crops are constantly full and the little ones i'm worried might not get enough. maybe i should separate them? or am i just worrying over nothing?
