i candled again tonight - i promise not to do it again for at least 5 days!! i pulled one with a blood ring and one clear. ok, i opened them both and the clear of course wasnt fertile but the little blood ring one i just was not expecting to see that embryo, i dont know why - i should have known i guess. the poor little thing. i sat down in the chair and misty eyed and pondering. my husband came in the kitchen and said "see, look you're getting attached" well, i didnt mean to, it just happened. i love every one of them. looking at the babies swimming in the shell was amazing. he didnt share my excitement but thats ok because i had enough for both of us. i didnt want to put them down
update my count please. i have 34 eggs in the incubator at this time. 30 look great, 4 i put near the back because i'm just not sure about them.
Well looking at my NYD Araucana eggs developing nicely confirms my Christmas ones are doing nothing.
Looks like I only have the 6 Dorkings due at Christmas, I don't think I put anything else in then but I've been slack with my notes and didn't write down what I set.
Still, if the 6 hatch I will be very happy.
My guesses for how many hatch are 136 early birds they day before Christmas and 357 on Christmas day.
Oh, and I think *I* will have the first hatcher since I'm a day ahead of you all down here in Aus.

I also candled again last night..a good time to candle again, just like you found out. You don't want an egg with a blood ring in your bator! Who knows why the little ones end up having those, or just end up quitting. It's sad. I used to open mine to take a peek too, don't do that too much any more, unless I have one out of many that quit late in the stage, then I want to see what's up. Usually can't tell. There could be so many different reasons...and most, not our fault at all. Sorry you had a sad night..but then it sounds like you have a lot of good happening!
