Hello wonderful people,

Gosh, I've posted so much on this forum already ‍♀️ okay! So I have a chick (she was the only one that hatched out of 12eggs) and when she's by her self in her brooder box she chirps really loudly, so loud that you can hear it downstairs even if the doors are closed.. If I'm not mistaken? I think that's the calling chirp, like she's calling for her mum? Idk.

BUT -- when she's with me or I'm holding her, she makes this constant, more quieter, kind of squeaky chirp. My dad said it means that she's happy...? Any clue what it is?

Sounds about right. Best thing you can do is get her some little friends asap - they are social creatures and it's important it's not alone.

she is happy when u hold her, its comfort for having no friends :love
Chickens are flock birds :thumbsup
Yeah, I know!! We were so heart broken when only one egg hatched. It's so weird, I candle lit the eggs the night before and the one who died actually felt like it was moving inside the egg... When we opened the egg eventually. The poor baby was fully developed! It was so sad xx

Until you can get it some friends put a small stuffed animal in the brooder and hang a feather duster so she can nestle underneath it.

Till then try putting some mirrors in her brooder box so that she can see herself thinking its another chick...
