The most prolific characteristic of a duckwing is the color in the secondaries, which he appears to not have. You sure he's a duckwing? Looks either like a Birchen or a cross of two colors. (one being solid such as black or blue, the other not)

From my understanding I was told by Dan Honour that he may still have more changes in his coloration. And his grandad is a Duckwing. He has 1/2 sis's that are Duckwings.
Here they are.
Here is the grandad.

Still tons of work to do typewise, although I do have better quality, younger birds who have their silkie feathering--no photos though. I really like this boy's colouring.

Dun Partridge, how neat. The girls will certainly look very brown.

lildinkem - That makes him half duckwing then, and half solid colored (E/E) Love the progress of grandad to dad though, looks like a good cleanup of Columbian

I never intended to make Duckwings. The initial idea of making the grandad was to test breed these 5 Buff Orp hens I got from a local breeder who never had a fertile egg. he said to use one of my proven young cocks to see if infact these Buff would produce fertile eggs. I used a Meyer hatchery Black cock that was suppose to be a Black Jersey Giant but wound up being some mix of Australorp and Ameraucana. After I hatched this fella out with 4 other chicks. I kept him only cause he was the only one who had this look. the others had the usual Red and Black mix. He was 11 lbs at 11 months old. I talked to Harry S and he said he thought there would be ALOT of hidden genetics coming from the Buff hens. He said to hatch some from a variety of colors. I choose to use him with both Blue Splash and Black. I immediatley started getting some Brown Reds and Blue and Black Birchens. And alot of different looking Blacks and Blues. I kept the better Blacks and took them to each other, which was Harry said to do and now I am getting some neat birds. I kept the Silver dad of my Dunn and took him to a few Birchen that the Grandad threw and that is why this bird has alot of Birchen. He may very well be a Dunn Birchen. It would make sense. Dan H thought he may mature into a Duckwing. And after hatching out 4 of these pullets which have a Duckwing influence I can see what he is talking about. So for now I plan on using these Duckwing looking pullets to a Cuckoo with hopes of making a Silver Crele. Then pop them around the flock with different cocks. Including taking them back to the Grandad.
