I'm just glad my nearest TSC finally put a sign up "Last shipment of chicks this year." It'll be safe to go in again without worrying about seeing oh they're adorable chickies and fighting chicken math. 😳

I swear it didn't matter what day of the week I went in, they would have a fresh shipment that day. And even tho I don't need any, ya still have to stop and watch the cuties 🥰 and hey I was in a hurry ya know!
Seeing a heap of chicks in one place would be crazy tempting! Thankfully we don't have many places like that here, only additions I get are ones I search for or eggs I hatch.
Actually filled the incubator up a few day ago!

We have 2 stores that have bins full of chicks in spring and fall. But the fall is only for a few days. Its so attempting.

Will definitely share some pics when they hatch! So hoping the silkie eggs hatch cause I haven't had silkie babies in at least a year :fl.
Breeds I put in are silkies and Sussex/ Barnevelder (they're a test breeding). Had a family member fill up the extra space with Polish eggs .

Sussex/Barnvelder sounds interesting. Two of my girls are Speckled Sussex, pretty birds and cute personalities.

It is interesting! I hatched one last hatch. He's silver because it was one of the silver laced cockerels. This time round they should all be gold/buff.

He's handsome!
"Egging" on the incubating eggs in this thread made my mind wonder about crossing and breeding for various things.

Thank goodness I have no roo and no room for more chickens right now, I'm afraid I'd start experimenting too 😳
