We used to raise Japanese quail (that's what they're called more often here) for meat and eggs, but I think our last lot got some illness and just slowly died off. I really like having aviary birds and wanted some kind of quail, it was a toss up between the Valleys and buttons. The Valleys aren't super common though so when I saw some for sale semi nearby I snatched up the opportunity.

Hazel had an emergency vet visit yesterday. There was apparently a second baby. Unfortunately no that baby was not alive, but Hazel needed urgent medical care to try and prevent issues. She's settle at home now and it's a monitoring game, hopefully recovery goes smoothly and there's no more issues

He tagged along to the vet and got lots of cuddles, slept on my lap the whole way in 
He is so adorable!!!❤❤❤The moment we've all been waiting for!
Because Hazel insists on proving me wrong at every turn, only one baby! I was right though that this chunky little boy almost caused a heap of issues!

As for his name I have asked my name consultant (family member) for a list of names meeting specific requirements. Waiting on that.

Still haven't decided if I'm hatching quail yet, I would be thrilled if one of them sits for me!
