This is a great website!

My oldest is almost 8 years old, but for her first couple of winters I used a heatlamp. I later learned that because she didn't get a laying break in winter it drained her life a little faster. She is slow now, and not the best layer but because she's the last member of my first ever chicken flock I feel that I have a duty to her.

Thanks. I think all the other regular greeters already have a badge. It is earned by greeting new comers to the site, in the New Members forum. Do you ever go there and greet all the newcomers? It's really fun reading where new people are starting out, and what they know and need to know. It's a great place to help people.

I tried to greet every new member for a while, but in the end it took to much time and made BYC less fun for me. Now whenever I see a new member intro page I pop in to say hello but I don't watch the forum anymore. I guess you have more endurance then me, @ValerieJ! Well done and congratulations!

Not endurance. I probably have more time on my hands, being retired, and I enjoy it. Really it always comes down to that, doesn't it? We all have different lifestyles, so it's all good!!!

DAY 55 CLUCKMAZING FACT~ As hens grow older, they lay larger eggs, but fewer than when they're younger.

Yep...and then you get huge eggs with shells so thin you can barely pick them up without breaking them! But they are good if you can manage to get the into the house unbroken.
