Honda has plants in Ohio, Indiana, Alabama.
These are American made cars.

The new problem created by this program is that the market of used parts has been seriously depleted. The cars traded in this clunker program had teh engine destroyed on the spot. NO parts were allowed to be salvaged from the vehicle. Everything in it was destroyed. Seems like such a waste.

We tried to trade in my 1988 Ford F150. Not only is it a clunker, it gets horrible gas mileage and spews all sorts of smoke into the air. We got turned down because I was a month late renewing the tags last fall when it was sitting idle. Oh well... I shall happily continue to drive my non-efficient, non-environmental clunker. So much for the gov'ts plan to save the economy and the environment.

My father and mother worked for GM in Mass. It just about broke my dad's heart when they closed his plant in the 80's He worked there for 27and a half years. When I bought a used Ford one time, he jokingly told me you don't think you are going to park that foriegn car here do you? My dad had pride in working there, and I would never dream of buying a car, van or truck that wasn't American made. If they stopped making cars in America today, I would just buy used cars made here for the rest of my life.

I know what one is too. My first car was a vw dasher. I currently have a 69 vw convertible sitting on the side of my house til some day I have the funds to restore it.

I'd also like to get one of the oldies but goodies .......57 chevy or something along those lines.

I'm sure we all can agree ( at least those who have been around a little while) that they don't make them like they used to!

Personally we are proud owners of 3 gas guzzling Fords.

LOL! I was going to get a new car with this Cash for Clunkers deal until they told me that my car would be "recycled" (scrapped). I love my T-bird. In a few years it will be an antique!​

I am not into this cash for clunkers deal for 2 reasons

1) I have researched it and the gas and liability insurance money I pay now vs gas plus full coverage insurance plus a car note I would not be saving MY household any money,so I will keep my 95 ford E 350 I paid $1.00 for from my Church,getting 15-17 MPG.

2)I have seen SOME NOT ALL of the people buying into this program who couldnt afford to feed thier family(or the tax payers of this country supporting thier family) go get a car and more than likely in a year or wind up with a car they cant sell or will have it repoed....now my question is on this?

IF YOU CANT AFFOR TO FEED YOUR FAMILY HOW CAN YOU AFFORD A CAR?

and for the statement about supporting foreign companies

Thats part of the reason we are where we are now,buying what other countries are procucing rather than what is AMERICAN made
Sure some of the cars foriegn cars are produced in th US,howevre the pats and pieces are produced overseas

I remeber the Pinto well a cousin had one with a 351 in it MAN THATY THING WAS FAST

and the 64 valiant was a few years before me,however I almost bout one until the guy told me $6,000 in 91 and the car had been sitting in the field since his Dad died in 72
