all I can say is put them together. you'll never know WHAT you get until you try... and 3-4 chicks is not a good sampling for a test breeding IMO. my 'test breeding' I try to hatch 15-20 to see what I get. you'll get some 'eh' quality, some awesome and probably a lot inbetween.![]()
I have been to both Sanctioned shows and fairs and I have not really seen a difference between them at least in my area. I have actually asked the question on this thread because I don't see a difference.I just wanted some advice on how it make not boring and a little less complicated. Thank you coopa cabanna for the great lin
In another subject I have been thinking about breeding Charles and Camilla my pair of bantam white cochins that recently won first at a show. The problem is that Charles has some faint grey spots on his feathers and the blade of his comb turns to one side ever so slightly. On the other hand he has a great deal of long feathering on his feet and he has a nice overall body shape. Camilla is a very nice hen that has no grey spots and a excellent full cushion tail but her feet are not as profusely feathered. If I breed the two do you think I will get the best of both worlds or something bad?
I will certainly have to post pictures of those two later.
the only thing that stands out this early on is her foot color. it should be yellow, not dark. For my education only would someone critique my 6 week old Blue Cochin pullet?
According to the SOP, female blue Cochins can have yellow to dusky yellow feet and shanks. The bottoms should be yellow. See pages 82-82 of the 2010 SOPthe only thing that stands out this early on is her foot color. it should be yellow, not dark.
otherwise, i'd say it's too early to say much else on type.
Keep in mind she walks on alfalfa hay all day long. The green is from that.According to the SOP, female blue Cochins can have yellow to dusky yellow feet and shanks. The bottoms should be yellow. See pages 82-82 of the 2010 SOP
