Thank you Gail for jumping in to my defenseLynne has been working long and hard on her LF "Lemon Blues", and she has bred some very striking birds. And I have told her so on numerous occasions. But she will also be the first to tell you that they are "her version" of Lemon Blues. They do not meet the Standardized description of Lemon Blue as it is currently written and accepted.
The only true way to achieve a properly marked and color Lemon Blue, which will also breed true, is to use a Brown Red on a Blue.
You cannot get LF Brown Reds out of Lynne's breeding program, as Lynne does not have LF Brown Reds in her breeding program.
You are correct, I don't have, nor am I working on, the recognized variety of Lemon Blue. I have my version & I always tell everyone, up-front, that the color is NOT the Standard version. However, Mike is correct that initially I started with a Splash roo & a Brown/Red hen (Patricia who is still in my program when she blesses me with an egg). My numbers are getting better every year in breeding more true to "my" Lemon Blue. For those of you who haven't seen any of my birds, here are a few pics.
