By the age in the second photo I know which are which by color (in Mille Fleurs) The boys still have color contrast all over and the girls have settled into a dominant Buff (White for Calicos). For most other Cochin colors I can usually tell by attitude and type by then.I will look into that book..Deffenilty sounds like something I want to read...

You're right. I wish I would have known there was such a thing as an SOP when I got my first birds. lol That's ok, it's been a learning experience.My recommendation is always to include the SOP cost in with your initial stock cost. If you are serious about breeding/showing, and are willing to buy the best starter birds you can, it only makes sense. It makes even more sense to buy your SOP before buying your birds - an informed buyer will always get the better birds.
