Looking for Lemon Blue hatching eggs. I posted elsewhere, however, keep hitting a dead end.

Can ANYONE help me? thank you!

mille fleur is mottled gold laced
That is my understanding as well as several genetic gurus that I know. I say this because I have a beautiful mottled hen that I was trying to decide how to breed (she's a bit of a mixed bag genetically) and Annamay Carlson told me I might try Golden Laced. Annamay has been breeding for years and breeds many of the lesser bred varieties, mostly patterned birds. Mandy knows first hand because she has/is doing it.

Yeah!! I vote we call these Turcochins.

OH MY GOSH what is that??! ...Oh, I see... It's a Turcochin. Okay...

Really, that's not what I came here to ask about. I just couldn't resist commenting on it because it is the first thing I saw.

What I wanted to ask was this:
If the Cochin were raised with non-feather-foot chickens, would they pick at her feet, and if she were placed with them in a flock of non-feather-foot chickens would the new guys do so?
If they did, would her mates protect her, ignore it, or join in?

Do any of you Cochin-owners/breeders/experts have any experience with placing day-old hatchery chicks under Cochin hens? I'm going to get some chicks and had the thought that maybe the hen could brood them for me in with the flock. Flock-raised chicks are always superior to brooder chicks, from what I have seen.

mille fleur is mottled and buff columbian... and calico is the same, just mismarked mille fleur.

I have been confused by this also. When I go to the genetics calculator, and put in Mille fleur, it comes up with Mottled columbian also.

It does not have Pg or Ml. Not trying to argue, just can't document the Mottled Gold laced.

I haven't hatched any Cochins yet but I have hatched Silkies.
This summer, I had 3 hens sitting on eggs. Once the eggs started hatching, the two white ones hogged all the chicks and left none for the blue girl that soooo badly wanted to care for the little things.

After all the eggs had hatched, the blue still had no chicks. I ended up giving her two that hatched in the incubator and stole one from the white girls.

My blue hen was a HAPPY girl!
I can't imagine it would make much of a difference if you took a day old hatchery chick and gave it to a hen as long as the hen was broody? I'm not an expert! But that's what I'm thinking.
I know Silkies will sit on just about anything, it seems, not so familiar with the Cochins yet. Still learning.

Not trying to start anything but Karen and Dak are both correct Millie Fleur is a combination of the buff columbian and black mottled

perhaps both will work. I have had mottled buff columbians but most of the black was still where the normal columbian markings are. the best patterned millie fleurs have been from mottled gold laced though. they are not something that I am breeding for, just what has come up with my blue laced reds
