Quote: oh! i'd be so excited too! unfortunately the 1 time i got eggs from her, the usps was not kind. so now i look for growing birds instead. tired of high hopes crashing... for other breeds/swaps, i'll take a chance, but not something i want so badly. LOL the other ones are likely to just go to the swaps with me anyways.
The results are now in and posted for the Premier Cochins International All-Cochin Online Show:

Congrats to all the winners!!
I notice "trim beak" was a common comment. How do you do this?
But I did take pictures of my hatch I just put in the brooder.
Keep in mind I have no idea what these guys will turn out to be. I had one pen that had 3 columbian roos, 2 columbian hens, 3 slash hens and one roo, MF project hen, mottled hen, buff roo, 3 buff hens, silver penciled hen.
Another pen had silver penciled roo, silver penciled hen, 3 buff hens, black roo, black hen, bule roo and 2 blue hens.
So I have a lot of mixes. I will not keep any of these but I had the itch to incubate! I now have my pens seperated and only have what I mentioned above.
So here are the 23 babies in the brooder so far.
Not sure what this little chipmunk guy is.. I think it may be from the MF project girl and maybe a columbian roo.
I use a nail clippers. Usually just a fingernail clipper and then I touch up the edges with an Emery board. I use the lower beak as the guide for what to trim. Better to trim a little too little than too much. It becomes second nature with practice.
