My oldest and favorite Cochin died yesterday. She was 6 and will be missed. She was hatched here.

He has the cutest little rear i have ever seen (pure white), an almost pure white chest, and black wings and saddle. Definitely not what i was expecting! Just goes to show it is a long road, and without knowing exactly what you are starting with, it is almost impossible to know what will pop out of the genetic mix.

She was certainly not my first show bird but the 1st that I had bred, hatched, raised, and won with. Like any first in my life I don't forget about it and look back with good memories. 1st dog, girlfriend , car, motorcycle, job, home, day at basic training, day each of my children were born. Those things are burned into my mind making them special in ways that make them my favorite things, thoughts, and moments.

ToddBall is certainly an oddball. He is a mottled Cochin Bantam. He is the funniest little Guy, I swear he is the life of the party. On his calm days, he stands tall,(but is still a tiny ball) and is the alert watchdog doing supervision duty while everyone else gorges on food, busying themselves. Other times, Todd keeps his kids and the rest of the coop in line, (he once karate kicked the big rooster!)
