Cochin Thread!!!

that's part of what I love about the cochins... here are some of mine I've grown out, showing more or less feathering on the feet... ideally the outside toe AND the middle toe are fully feathered, and sometimes even the inside toe, but not usually... my red girl went overboard I think (on the foot feathering).

The Columbian is/was Lucky just shortly after he died - learning to walk again...
long story but he's going strong now! I need updated pics of him. LOL
BEAUTIFUL

you mean the mille fleur cockerel or pullet? this is Kepiru now (the cockerel in both pictures top and bottom) and the pullet they are residents of my mille fleur pen.
The cockerel! In love the red color! The pullet is pretty too but there is just something about a red speckled roo I just love ;)

Hello all I just bought three blue English cochin chicks and all they seen to do is lay around is this normal for them I read somewhere that they are lazy birds if u have any info please let me know thanks

Ok, I will give my thoughts on your situation.

-I agree with the person who said trim their butts. It will at least help control the mess.

- to me it looks like you have a gut issue. I think switching what you're feeding them was a good choice. It is possible the you had a bad bag of feed. Putting electrolytes in the water is also good because at this point they are probably out of whack.

-have you considered giving antibiotics? This far into the problem it might not be a bad idea. There are those on this board who can advise better than I, but it's worth considering.

-If all these changes don't improve your birds, I would look to their environment. For now, feed, water and meds.

Please post how the birds are doing on the change of feed.
