Cochin Thread!!!

Lavenders are currently a work in progress. I don't think any of them have that SQ type like the cochins that are really sought after. Also, I think some hatcheries carry poor typed lavenders so. ..Bottom line.. you'll probably have some work to do improving type by crossing to black and back again before you'd have anything "sought after"

Three cheers for my hens!

It's been snowing here since yesterday morning, but four of my hens have decided that it's time to brood!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they stay on the eggs!

I've also stuck a few partridge cochin eggs under three of them!

One thing I love about bantam cochin hens is that they are so broody.

I'm keeping lights on for warmth in the youngsters' pen and I guess it has convinced the older girls to go broody!?!

We raise both bantam cochins in blue, black & splash and standard cochins in black. We love these puff balls and our kids have done great showing them. Here is a photo of some of the standard girls...they kinda all blend in together, hard to tell where one starts and another ends!

Do you show your birds? I'm looking for some buff standard SQ/BQ. I'd like to get birds but may be interested in eggs if you sell them. Thanks Jessica

Understatement on the Buffs!! (0:
They and two of your Barreds here(owned by another girl in the club) are the spoiled birdies of two of the probably youngest Cochins International members!
