I've spent so much time ranting about my Mille Fleurs & Columbians lately, I've neglected to post pics of my Blue Splash pair - so here's ChaCha and ChiChi. They're both 2009 hatches, not a year old yet.

And is anyone on the thread raising Golden-Laced Bantams?

I have some gold laced bantams ordered and on the way, but they will be my first of that kind. I currently only have LF barred cochins, although I should be getting some Blue/Splash LF and a pair of MF bantams in the next week or so.

I also have some mottled and some lavender cochins on order for later this year. Planning on selling off most of my non cochin birds, leaving only a regular laying flock for eggs.

We were working on a "massive" chick brooder unit on Saturday and between hauling down tons of wood and tools and then making all sorts of racket with power tools, along with my SO who the chickens are not very familiar with........the only chickens who didn't run squawking as far away as possible were my cochins. They were hanging right there, even at one point, standing in the frame we were building.

I'm looking for SQ/BQ LF Cochin in New England. Anybody know anyone? I'd prefer to purchase a trio but willing to go with chicks or eggs. Thanks Jessica

My "introductory" chicken was a buff bantie cochin hen that I raised from a pullet. She was great...helped me garden, came when I called, liked sitting on me, terrorised all the other animals, excellent layer. You had to be vigilant when walking around the yard when she was out, else the next thing you knew a chicken was flying frantically at your head, for heads were perches according to old Ethel. Miss her a lot sometimes. Would LOVE to have more cochin bantams!

I have ordered them for now from Ideal for simplicity sake as they are part of a large (and getting larger by the day whoops) order.....I do not know of any breeders out there....plus it is part of a color project, so the type will be screwy pretty soon anyways

I considered ordering some from Sandhill for later this year.....still pondering that idea

Do you have any GL yourself?

No GL at the present - just the Columbians, Mille Fleur (projects), and the Blue Splash. I just don't have the room to place an order of 25 from Ideal. (Saw you joined us on the MF group this morning!)
