Do you have the brother, Tigger? If I could get something from him that would be great. As far as I know all pullets are solid buff, but I'm also guessing the goal is to eliminate the black/brown in the cushion. If your hen is clear, I don't think it could be avoided or would really matter that she might be a carrier, the important thing is that she herself doesn't have any dark feathering, that's great!
I got my birds from S&C and I had to beg for months to get these.

They (S&C) are working on their program and don't have a lot of birds. The ones that they have they want to keep for the obvious reasons. I saw some of their adults that were extremely nice, but of course they weren't going to let me have those. Brother Paul was very honest about what he was letting me have, they weren't the culls but they weren't his best. I just considered myself lucky to get them. I got the only two pullets he had available at that time and luckily one of them turned out to be pretty nice.
I have black, blue (splash) birchen, black & blue mottled, and partridge cochin, and I think I can safely say they are relatively nice. They are NOT hatchery stock. Then I've got these little play around birds, the buff barred and mille fleur. I also have d'Uccle in mille fleur, lavender, porcelain. If there's anything there that sounds like something you'd be interested in, let me know and we can work on this trade thing.
This sounds wonderful! I really appreciate your willingness to work with me.

I've heard that the females look more like a buff mottled. If you look under bantam cochins under Feathersite there is buff cuckoo hens that are patterned. Here is a picture of Tigger and Cactus Toast. Tigger is on the right. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/23433_camera_go_187.jpg

Mottled, Birchen, Buff Barred, and Blue/Black/ Splash. Hmm. I'm in for a trade, not sure for which color though. lol.

Can you show me where the hens are on the feathersite? I wasn't able to find them. I LOVE your roos. How old are they? Mine are just babies. They won't be a year old until this summer. They have good rich color, but again they've got the dark feathers in their cushion, so maybe I'll have to sacrifice richness of color to get rid of those feathers.

I think he is getting quite old to be a breeder. He may fool me but I would be looking for another rooster.

Darn, we were hoping to get a roo from him as his replacement. Should have kept one back last year.

Could you AI a couple of your best hens and see if you can get anything fertilized that way? That way you'd be saving his energy and his semen. If you collect first thing in the morning you'll get the best of what he's got.

Well, I don't know how to describe it. I'd be better off taking pictures. The weather has been awful, so just as soon as I can, I'll try to take some pics and get them up loaded. Both boys have a small patch of dark feathers that measures about 1" square. All in all that spreads out to look like quite a bit. The one pullet has about the same amount and the better one has about half that amount. I think your birds are much better than mine.

I met a BYC'er today, I got two Silver Laced Cochin Bantam Roosters from him. One has pretty nice lacing, the other has some orangish feathers but is still pretty neate looking. Will post pictures in the morning.

- so beautiful!
I've got Partridge, Mille Fleur, and Lavender/Self-blue (just started). When my two project-color flocks get better established I sure do want to work on the Buff-barred.

I have a couple of nice Mottled to improve my Mille Fleurs and I have a young little pair of Buffs. I didn't plan on raising Buffs but they were going to be live-trap bait........ and now I know they are so sweet.

He seems to be really healthy, and he his girls (3) are very loyal to him. I will wait till they start laying their first eggs and see what we get, never had AI'd a chicken before, cattle, pigs, yes, chickens no. Doesn't even sound appealing!!
