Hi,
I am new to keeping chickens. Took six, what were suppose to be pullets from a day old chick order five weeks ago. All are doing great and GROWING. Let the kids pick which ones we took home. Afterward, we figured out one of the chicks we ended up with was most likely the "free exotic chick" and as such a good chance a male. All but certain he is a Partridge Cochin (standard).
The fun of the assortment orders is ending up with something great that you never would have chosen yourself. I have read about the advantages of a rooster to protect the hens, etc. My big question is how much noise should we expect from this probable rooster (my son named him "Chi" which he claims is chinese for chicken). I am concerned about bothering my neighbors. Any other insight is also apprecieted.
Thanks,
Kevin
