So, do you think that I would be able to sell any chicks they might have? Sorry if that is a silly question.

Not a silly question............I don't know. I really do think it depends on the part of the country you live in and other factors, i.e., how good of a sales person are you? I'm terrible at sales so I always have a hard time selling my birds and it's not because they are ugly.

Show me anyone who has true show quality Partridge cochins and sells eggs. I honestly doubt that you can find true SQ Partridge eggs to hatch. I now own some good type Partridge Cochins and know of no one who has quality birds that ever sell eggs, only adult birds. Beware of any ad that says SQ eggs unless you know the seller.

really? that is good to know! course i don't have an incubator, so it isn't an option for me...

I believe they meant let they hens hatch the eggs for you. They can be good little broodies.

I do so agree!!!

SQ Partridge cochins are hard to find!

Eggs or chicks are a risk, and can be an expensive mistake if they grow out to be PQ and of little use.

Is there an active Pekin (chicken and not the duck

) thread on here? I can't seem to find one.

Edited: Thanks very much in advance.

..............Thank you very much. I've looked long and hard for them and his line won BB at the National last year. Of course there wasn't a LOT of competition......never is......but there was some and they were very nice. This has been a horrible year for hatching for me.........I've had a really high % of dead in the shell which totally broke my heart. Things have improved as the summer wore on, but I'm ready to quit and NOW they are starting to lay again. I CAN'T stop with eggs sitting on the counter.
I'm going to tear my hair out if I end up with chickens in the house this winter! I'm a very little operation and could get caught with babies that I can't put out until they are starting to look like CHICKENS. You know what that means if they're inside.........yuck!!!

X2.............I'll NEVER let go of an egg or a chick.

I have had similar issues with mine and lost a lot of ground earlier this summer.. so, am making up for it now. My girls are laying like crazy and I'm having much better fertility/hatchability/chick vigor now than ever. I swore my last set would be Sept. 1 ...but

I am terrified of all these babies in my house but, I can't stop.. SOMEBODY STOP ME

This is a Cochin thread. A Pekin thread would be somewhere in the UK. I know of no such thread/topic on BYC. I do admire some of the birds posted on the European and UK sites.

Stop you? No . . . I'll be joining you! Nothing says Christmas like a house full of chicks! Luckily, we alternate homes for Christmas, and this year it's at my brother's house! My Mom stays with me over he holidays, but she loves the birds!

Erin, any problems there with Irene yet? I hope everyone on the east coast weathers the storm OK.
