I just looked at this again and I'm confused, are you breeding to a Black or a Splash? Unless your hen is VERY dark, I wouldn't breed to a Splash, I might be wrong but I would be afraid of getting too many washed out Blues, but I'm sure you'd get a number of Splash. I'm embarrassed to say I can't remember the % of what colors you'll get.

Blue X Splash = 50% Blue , 50% Splash

Blue X Black = 50% Blue, 50% Black

The black cockerel is my own. He's not from a hatchery, I bought him from a breeder that was selling on ebay. I could look up who. The splash is owned by a friend of mine and he's from Cackle. The hen is too dark, not super, but not powdery either.

Here's some picture of the young ones. These pictures are from 2 weeks ago.

In this picture you can see the gold developing, although it's much worse now. She has 3-4 full lacings of gold.

The White Cochin Hen in the picture looks like she might have the beginnings of an eye infection because her eye looks crusty. I hope that this is not the case. It looks like you might have gotten some pretty nice birds though.Please post more pictures

shoot!!! i looked at her eye today and your right it did have crustys on it, i wipped them off but she still squints her eyes. her eye is clear thoe. what should i do for it, their a birthday present for my friend next week

You can give her a shot of tylan or and this is just a personal opinion, give it a drop of human pink eye antibiotics in each eye. I have given human pink eye antibiotics to chickens before and it has worked pretty well.

The least invasive and inexpensive thing you can do in the meantime is wash her eyes out with saline solution because it is sterile. Don't try to scrape the crusty stuff off because it could hurt her eye and you could give it to other chickens because it is on your hands.

Hold the bird in your hand and gently squirt the saline solution in the birds eye. After that take some cotton balls and wipe
the crusty stuff off the eye along with access saline solution. I would repeat the same process with the hens other eye as well because in my experience, once they get it in one eye they will most likely develope it in the other eye as well.
I would definitely put her in a separate cage and watch the other birds closely for signs of infections.

In my experience if you leave the infection alone it gets worse until you have to cull the bird. The rooster that you think has a lazy eye might also have an eye infection.
