Cochin Thread!!!

I'm not sure how old this Cochin pullet is but I think she just started laying. This picture was taken a while back ago. I was wondering if she was good quality or not? I got her from a chicken swap. Her feet are muddy because she free ranges.

Thanks!!

For a swap bird, I think she looks very nice. It's always hard to tell from just one picture and one angle, but she looks above average to me.

I've added lots of new things to the Cochins International website if you haven't checked in recently. There is a new Youth page, lots more show results & photos, and there are now slide show photo galleries on each of the breed standard pages! I think it always helps to have pictures in front of you as you read the text of the breed standard.
The Show Calendar stays current with Club meets near you, and the News page stays current with Club news.
If you haven't joined Cochins International already, it's a great way to support your favorite breed, get Newsletters, the official Club Breeders Directory, and your show wins can accumulate Breeder Points for you!
And if you're already a member, did you remember to renew your dues at the first of the year?

I am a MOMMA!!!!!!! I got my babies today!! (the link to their pictures is in my signature)

They're all cochins and I think they're all bantams. I don't know their colors (don't spoil the surprise please!)

I can't see very well, but it looks like a Black or Birchen and a Partridge. They can be feather sexed, but it can only be done at a certain very young age when the wing feathers are coming in.

I am a newbe and still looking for some help figuring out what I've got here. I'm fairly sure cochin bantam but not sure on color they are now 6 days old. Here the are any help would be great the first is the dark which is getting black and white feathers on its wins (molted?) the other im not sure but thinking silver pencil? please help. also is there any way to sex these little ones

I read about feather sexing and was trying to do it on my chicks that I got today but every single one of them look the same (which looks like a boy's feather sexing) so either I have 12 boys or I don't know what I'm looking at or they're not ready to be feather sexed

I agree with Coopa. She has wide cushion feathers, decent eye color. nice wing carriage. Is it my computer or does she have some white feathers on her. Can't tell about leg/foot color.
