Cochin Thread!!!

ok just a curiosity question... is there a breed that is the equivalent of a clean legged cochin? aka roundish fluffball on stilts?

Both of Ethel's eggs hatched, she will not let me get close enough to the babies to check them out but thats a good thing right? one hatched late last night and the other this afternoon! both cute little fluffy butts! the chicks peeked there heads out at me before I closed momma and them up for the night. But they are not Cochin chicks, her eggs have been infertile because the Roo has not taken interest in her or her sister cochin any more, she and her babies are going to a new home where her broodiness will be utilized next weekend. Hopefully she will have a man again in the future too!
Lucy has yet to hatch her own babies but really wants to and she is also going to a new home next weekend where she will also be well taken care of and her broodiness utilized as well with a man of her own hopefully.
I would have never given these two beauties up but they CANNOT stay caged up, they need room to run and terrorize other chickens. They were ganging up on the other chickens that my Roo would mount then corner and terrorize that poor girl. i was not getting any eggs from the rest of the flock until i took both of them out. So i am going to part ways with these beauties and give them a third chance as i already gave them a second chance. they were rescues along with the Roo that is no longer interested. 4 month old Bantam D'Uccle Cockerel and 2 bantam cochin's in a pen with 40 standard chickens 15 of them being Roo's, they were skin and bones and torn up. Now 2 yr's later still happy and healthy beautiful girls are going to another home where they will be with bantams their own size and hopefully a Roo who will do the deed too! LOL!

Good thing is they will be right here in Oregon so I can keep in touch!

Here is a picture of Ethel with her first chick to hatch you can barely see its little brown bum but it's there. This brood has taken a toll on her and she has lost some color but now that the babies have hatched she is more active and grouchier! LOL!

And Lucy who ran through her own Broody poop right before the picture!

I wonder what happens to my subscription when I don't log in for a day or two, does it think I've lost interest. This dang thing hasn't sent me a notice since I got back from Sedalia, I just assumed everyone was still posting so I logged on. I'm 100+ posts behind.
I've been doing a lot of catch up since I got back anyway..............What fun I had and I LOVE my Black pair from Mr. Rhoades. Thanks for giving me the tip on them Craig.

Lilcrow-

Try looking at your subscription setts - go to my subscriptions then edit subscriptions - check to see everything is set as you thought it was/should be. I found a few of my were off when they should have been on.

For the last week or two, my notifications have all been dropping into my Junk mail folder - even tho I have them marked as safe. And it still seems like, since the BYC platform change, that I don't get get them as quickly as I used to. Sometimes it takes an hour or a day before I get the notifications, and then I have to catch up as well. It can be very frustrating.
