So this is my so far outcome of a mottled cross splash cochin in my attempt for blue mottleds.

He looks similar to my blue cochin, will the feathering change as he gets older?

No, i guess i have to breed him back to his father, my mottled cochin Dudley. you can see him the link with pics through my signature. His dad is 9 months now.

It's the only way I can think of getting a hen. I've looked everywhere and this way I can breed both blue and black mottleds.

I would purchase them but I don't really want to have anymore birds shipped in because I just had 5 shipped from California.

I have to vent and it is not about any person who has ever posted on this thread. A person contacted me looking for eggs. I stated I don't sell eggs only Adults and sometime started birds when I have them. I gave them the contact information for Dick Horstman who does sell Columbian eggs. They didn't do that. They asked about birds. I asked if they were ever going to show. Their reply " Not looking to show,but i want birds that looks nice. Looking for columbian cochins." I send 4 pictures . They were too dark. Sent 4 more pictures. Too light. Contacted them again to ask what is it you are really looking for and now they are looking to show. Just @#$!**** tell me what you really want and I will try to help. Don't tell me you want good pet birds at pet bird price when you are looking for my best. I am still going to try to help but it sure would be easier and I wouldn't have wasted hours if this person had been upfront about what they really wanted. Sorry if I wasted your time.

i can sympathize... i posted on craigslist that i would have x number of this breed, x number of this breed, and they are this much... stated i would not reserve birds, chicks are unsexed, etc.

so i get emails saying do i have any of this or this, and can i meet them 2 hours from my home so they can look at them... uh, NO! i'll be at the swap. you want to see my birds, drive your butt there. another email, i want only girl chicks. listen lady, the chicks are a day old. if you can tell the girls from the boys, have at it. another one wanted to know how much for this or that... this one was 30, that one was 20. so... simple math. the 2 birds would be 50.

get to the swap, the same person who can't add, says ok he wants these 2 hens at 30 each, and 2 pullets at 15 each... and hands me 60. ok so did you want the 2 big girls, or 1 big girl and the 2 pullets? he looks at me like i'm stupid. so i had to spell it out. ok. 30 plus 30 is 60. and 15 each for the pullets is another 30, so that's 90... so if you want them all that's 30 more. or you can get this or that...

so glad i don't have to work face to face with the public. i'd kill someone.

I hear ya! I get annoyed when people look at my website, supposedly read the list of what I have & see the pics of what I have (I only have one breed of chicken, 2 colors) and one breed (one color) of duck. Then I get a website form submission asking if I have a certain breed that is NOT on my website! Um, Duhhhh???
