Cochin Thread!!!

i have also had a hit and miss with cochin broodies, oddly my two black girls sat beautifully and got up every day to dust bath and eat. My two white girls currently will not move off the nest without me moving them. Very strange.

My little "brichen" frizzle is showing even weirder colours. Some feathers are perfectly laced, some double laced, and some, well see.

i am sad i am getting rid of this little boy, he is beautifully typed and has a lovely head, he is only 9 weeks at the moment.

in the rest you can see the strange "lacing" that came from the black frizzle/white smooth f1.

his chest is almost pure white

on his back there is the same white patches

here the chest and some lacing.

He doesnt factor into any of any of my breeding programs, and so is going soon, but i wish i could keep him, and maybe put him with some under marked birchen girls, and start a birchen program, but i cant find any with good type.

Here's my guy, Lemon Boy.

i maybe could take him where do you live CA any chance!

That is not what was said.:" that's why i'll incubate everything myself, relocate momma to an inside nest, and give her the eggs when they would go in lockdown. then i can monitor her and the eggs on her inside nest and judge if she's going to be a good momma or not."

Sorry, I should have started that with "Suppose" --- Suppose you say... etc. That was me saying that, not reinterpreting what you said.
My apologies for the confusion.

Hey guys, I went out and took a couple pictures of my three 3 month old silver laced bantams. I don't have the SOP yet, and I was wondering if the incomplete lacing is something that I should avoid. I should be getting more hatching eggs from an experieneced breeder next month, and hopefully a pair or trio this fall.

Here are some pictures of the pullet with the 'incomplete lacing'.
other than their type being a bit off, breeding the incomplete lacing together you will get some with the complete lacing. the incomplete lacing is simply that the genetic makeup isn't quite homozygous for all the mutations needed yet.

One of my Spring pullets is sitting on 5 eggs. She was sneaky, stashed them away when I had the flu and wasn't paying close attention. She must be anticipating Spring as much as I am!

You have to start somewhere, and this looks a good as place as any. The lacing may be incomplete but that can be a good thing. Most SL are too dark and I am thinking that is harder to breed from than a bird too light? I like them, very pretty!

Thanks! I realize the type isn't there yet, but I'm still hoping it will improve a little since they are only 3 months old. I'm excited to begin this breeding project as I've always loved the silver laced variety. I will spend this year obtaining more silver laced birds so that I can hopefully begin generation 1 next spring.

It's good to hear that the 'incomplete lacing' isn't really a problem. Thanks again!
