Cochin Thread!!!

Hi everybody................ newbie here

How many of you have bantam cochins that can breed naturally ? With out plucking or cutting feathers.

Just doesn't seem right if an animal can't reproduce naturally. Thanks

Mine do with absolutely no help from me, i have only tried to hatch 5 so far, and all 5 have hatched, so far its 100% hatch rate by natural means for me, the breeder i buy from also doesnt use ai.

Anyone know anyone breeding in New England area? PM me please or reply here. I am looking to add some LF chicks , ready now to buy. Especially Frizzled!

What is the active ingredient(s) in this wormer?
I think it's Pyrantel Paomate and it's imported from England, but if you really need to know for certain it would be best to contact Victor Hakes, the owner of Twin City Poultry Supply. He is a very kind and helpful man and knows more about poultry health than any vet I've run across.

Hmmm, pyrantel is a common dewormer here in the states. Shouldn't have to get it from overseas.

I emailed them to get an answer.

That may well be, I just know that I trust Victor completely, he's saved several of my chickens by diagnosing over the phone and he doesn't even expect you to buy something from him to get his help. I have a terrible time trying to figure dosages and the best way to administer meds. The Worminator is easy to give (it has it's own little eye dropper) is relatively inexpensive, and it goes a long way, 1 drop per bantam, 2 drops per LF. Also, I'm not 100% sure that pyrantel is the active ingredient. I know that Victor would tell you if you asked him.

Quote: i don't do anything to mine and they all hatch just fine... i've got about 20 chicks growing out from just my mille fleur pen with 1 roo and 2 girls that are laying so far... the 2 pullets i think are holding out for warmer weather. they're sure old enough now.

This is the answer I received. Not sure what he means by "all the other ingredients". Also, not sure what the FDA would think of this. Who knows what the withdrawl time should be. I think we have plenty of known wormers on the market without resorting to mystery medicine.

The company we get it from in England won't tell us sorry to say but they said it's similar to Ivermec without all the other ingredients.

Hummmmmm that is curious. There is a product called Ivermec Plus, perhaps they are referring to it, and if that is the case wouldn't that make it just plain ivermectin?
