Wow, Gail. My Ameraucana's is much bigger than that right now and I am afraid to pull them off. I know they are causing some issues with the girls and I should, though. Did you just use pliers and do the twist n pull method?

With my LF, I trim them back with dog nail clippers, then smooth them out with a dremmel equipped with a grinding stone.

i need help from expert who have info of cochin.

i had crossed black cochin heay male with golden buff cochin hen. the offspring is a golden heavy male with black under coat, pic is attached.

presently i want to know that if i again cross the offspring of black n golden cochin with black cochin hens
Is there is any possibility that i can get pure black cochin breed again

Possible. But with the price of feed it would be much cheaper and at least 2 years faster to just buy a Black Cock or Cockerel and breed that to the Black hens while they are still young enough to reproduce.

I have some from my blue laced red that looks like that. I'm thinking some sort of blue and brown color, perhaps a lemon blue?

My bantam blue frizzled Cochins looked just like that when she was born.

Cochins are not supposed to have vulture hocks. It is a DQ for the breed.

I had an accidental crossing of a dark brahma with blue and black cochin hens. The chicks didn't have vulture hocks and they actually represented the brahma breed quite well. They had the pea comb and body shape of a brahma along with the obvious feathered legs. I ended up with blue barred, black with gold laced hackles, and blue with gold laced hackles but I didn't keep any of them.

Well I think I'm either going to go with a Cochin or a Plymouth rock male to cross with my Brahma females. I will probably end up going with Plymouth rock because I have never seen the variety of cochin I would need to go with in LF. I realize that cochin would probably be closer to the standard of the brahma but I will keep my options open. If I do manage to do this project it's going to take me a while but the reward will be worth it.

A friend posted this and I felt compelled to copy and repost it here. Their thought on this mirrors mine so I am sharing this.

Here's my general overall opinion: If you have to ask 'WHAT WILL I GET if I breed my X to my Y?', then you have no business breeding X to Y. Just because you have a pretty male and a pretty female is no excuse to breed them. You are not doing the Breed any favors; you are not doing your birds any favors. We ALL love to tinker with genetics - it's fun! But please do it with an educated and informed goal in mind.
