Cochin Thread!!!

I really doubt the age is correct. Lots of filling out to do yet. Pattern is not very good and I do not know if it will improve with age. Not enough cushion yet. Is it a blue? It may change but at this age it is not a SQ bird. New pictures at 4 months from multiple angles and I will do a better job of critiquing.

Even at his age you can tell his tail set is wrong and he has no cushion. I know you have been breeding for awhile and know that at 14-16wks you can tell if there is any hope in that area. ;)

thank you. Not sure what I would call the color. He looked blue when younger but now getting these barred look. Im sure of the age cause I hatched him here. I saw pictures of rayvaughn's birds. Big difference compaired to mine. I would think he will fill out more but probably not like that.

yes I see what you mean now that you say it. I just didnt know what they looked like when they are younger. Thought maybe it would fill out as it got older. He's pretty never the less. Guess he will just stay a pet.

This was the same cockeral at 5
400
weeks. He has changed so much. Not so sure for the best. I was just hoping he was going through an awkward stage right now.

He has sure changed a lot. here is a mottled i culled as a comparison at 7 weeks. note the tail, already soft and round. Not the greatest angle though.

i think your boy will still fill in, seems very developed for a 10 week old though.
Here is the same cockerel at 13 weeks, he still had a very small comb and wattles.

Is anyone here good at sexing a day old cochin? I know some people are able to tell by the primary feathers when they are a day old. I'm worried my little blue I got today is a male. But there weren't many too pick from and I wanted one really bad! So I just took my chances
