I had an oops baby, a son of a dark brahma (silver pencilled) and a black cochin hen - turned out black with black feet and beal -i think it was e+/e+ according to the kip chicken calculator. Hes pretty, but not useful and hence will b dinner when he gets bigger! Lol hope this helps!
What color will you get when you cross a silver penciled bantam with a black bantam.

Would that be the same for the Cochin bantams? Could you post a picture please.

Yes, concerning the colors - yours of course would not have the pea comb and be more cochin-like, but would be what they call "extended black" google the "chicken calculator" - it ia fun to play with and will help you with the "what would i get if i crossed...."

yes. Colour genetics are the same. The breed doesn't matter. Silver pencilled is the same as partridge, just differing on the colour gene s. I hatched a lot of those, you will get black, and black with leakage in the males. You may see patterning on the juvenile feathers, but that will be covered up as the feathers grow. The birds that display patterning in the juvenile feathers are split for Pg or patterning gene. If you want to get back to pencilled then those are the ones to keep. Sorry, going off on a tangent here:)

This will also depend on which colour the male is. Are you talking SP Roo and black pullet? Or black roo and SP pullet?

Quote: nope... this is an e+/e+ trio... 1 roo 2 hens in the foreground are silver, the 'normal' ie red, roo is in the background and his hen is the one chopped off on the right.

what you have is likely E (extended black) check out the link in my sig for my article on genetics...
