Mmmmm.... Those are Birchens. He is only 4 1/2 so he has his juvenile feathers.
No the big boys are not birchens. They carry the silver gene as do the birchen cochins which is why i thought your bird was cool looking because with the lacing on your bird he reminded me of a miniature version of the big Silver Sussex. I was trying to compliment your bird --

My SQ black hen has the standard colored feet. I could experiment with that.

My SQ black hen after she got attacked by my neighbors dog. She is growing back her feathers as you can tell.
 
"pure black line" really doesn't mean much. it just means that all the birds are dominant blacks... there can still be a wide variety of other mutations hanging out under that black that will show up when crossed... like red for one. the only things you can guarantee a solid black to NOT carry are mottled and barring.

Hey Ki4Got, my black are also hiding heterzygous mottling, and showing no signs of it externally.
