Cochin Thread!!!

Are Cochins the only ones with feathers on their legs and feet? When I bought my last ones, that is what I asked Alan for. I didn't know what kind he had that had feathery legs and feet. He just grabbed them up and put them in a box for me. Sylvia

These are my new babies! Love the little darlings.
There were only Cochin chickens in this coop. Any chance they can be late bloomers with the feathers on their feet?

This little gal is a late bloomer too?

The top and bottom birds pictured will not get feathers on the feet. You have some cute birds there. I have no idea how they will finish out but would like to see pictures of them in 3-5 months.

I am no expert on Cochins, especially not banty Cochin. All I have are standard LF Partridge Cochins, but plan on getting some black Cochins sometime in the future. Looking thru a Cackle hatchery catalog, they have a large number of color varieties, both in LF and bantam sizes. Just in bantam, they list black, buff, red, partridge, birchen, white, splash, barred, silver penciled, golden laced, and blue. Sorry, no frizzles. Pretty much all the same colors are listed for LF Cochins.

Cackle has nice birds. I have 6 LF from them. A pair of blues, and 4 black 2month olds. :)

Are they still cochin chickens even though they don't have feathers on their feet? They only had cochin roosters and hens that I saw. Could it be a recessive trait that popped up?
