He had a beautiful LF cochin sunburn splash rooster that had a twisted beak. The upper beak went to the left and the lower to the right and it was severe. And the rooster had a eye infection in one eye and his eye was matted shut. I so badly wanted to get this rooster to but I have a rooster and didn't have another place to put him and the hen to. But in another cage he had 4 cochin bantam cockerels they all looked ok ( for now). Most of his bantams in general looked better. I guess cause he sells them as pets more then dinner. My hen was in the dinner coop.
I just feel even if you raise animals for dinner that they need to be treated with care and respect all the way to the "kill" shot or how ever they do it.
U could just see in the eyes of these chickens that some of them seemed to be praying for death just so they were scared and in pain anymore.
My little hen was one of those. But yesterday afternoon after a few hours with me she seems like her spirits had lifted a little. She was up walking around and eatting. She loved the start and grow. I'm going to go get her some meal worms and black oil sunflower seeds.
