what about them made you say that? Just trying to pin down the differences and know what I have.
I see them as more lightly feathered on the legs and feet than a Cochin should be. Leg not correct color. Not Cochin type tail- no cushion.
I wanted to comment related to an earlier post you presented (but was too lazy to scroll up that far to quote) if you're wondering if anyone on here cares about the standard for the cochin and is here to learn and learn some more then please count me in. I do deeply appreciate the knowledge and experience shared by those in the breed and that is specifically why I am here: to learn. So please don't depart from the thread (I know you said you wouldn't) or tell us if there is another thread we should go to.
I love pets too but I hope to absorb enough knowledge to be able to hobby breed and contribute to the history and development and preservation of the cochin breed.
And then I wanted to ask what is meant by the term "self blue" for color.
Thanks for choosing to be an educator because many of us do appreciate it and do care and wouldn't have hopes to begin successful programs through the years without you guys.

Thank you!Someone a while back nominated me to be a BYC educator. I am not well rounded on all breeds but I am quite educated on Cochins. I am still learning all the time.
Self Blue is what the ABA and APA call the variety/color that some incorrectly call Lavender. It has been described as Self Blue in the ABA for 100 years and even longer in the APA. Self Blue is the variety lavender is the gene necessary. There is a great thread on here about Self Blue Cochins that was started by the past President of Cochins International breed club. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/222829/self-blue-cochin-bantams
