I don't know her. I tried to find out a long time ago, but all I found was that she was a dog lover.
I'll say again, unless you've raised large fowl Cochin and have a lot of experience with them, it is very difficult to sex them particularly that young.

I am still new to the breed although I have one adult that I got as chick. I bought 3 but only 1 lived. so this year I bought 5 from a breeder and I think I have a male, but I am not sure. so I will keep watching for feathers to turn into sickle or saddles or just wait to catch them lay. I mainly want to get the pen in my new coop done so I can move them. Hope to get that done this week if I have to do it myself. I want it one way hubby says another way. umm, am I not the resident chicken farmer? so tired of trying to explain why it needs done for the birds not us.

These are my first Cochins. They are Silver Laced, 5-6 weeks old. Can anyone offer a guess as to the sex? The first and last are photos of two chicks that look almost exactly alike. The middle one is a photo of the largest chick and she(?) is mostly black.

They will change constantly until fully grown. Expect a lot of change. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy my GL.

My younger Cochins have found their adult voices!!My adult hen hangs close to the pen and talks to them, its so sad but cute too.She has been the only Cochin for a while.The one I think is male is very curious about me. Every time I open pen he comes up, watches me and when I try to pet him he runs off. Hope to get them moved into new coop by sunday. Hard to build pens with limited knowledge how to run power tools and I can't find enough clamps to hold things together. I will leave out my limited reach now since wall studs are up and the scaffold won't fit in. I need to take out my step stool now.What fun!!
