Cochin Thread!!!

Hi everyone, so I went out and got five more LF Cochins this afternoon, this time from a breeder who keeps to standards and shows his birds, rather than hatchery stock like previous birds of mine, and I must say that the difference is astounding. They are only four weeks old so I can't be sure how they will turn out, but the parent stock was truly impressive. Now that I have seen in person how a properly bred Cochin looks I don't think that I'll ever stray from keeping Cochins

Definitely worth looking for properly bred birds over hatchery and I paid less for these than the others so it's not even necessarily more expensive.
The five I added today are: two white, two blackish, though there are white streaks in them, not barred though, looks suite interesting, and one lavender. Love the lavender, the colour just looks so soft that they look even fluffier and softer

I would love to see pictures.

Thank you! He is adorable, and growing into a nice flock protector. I hatched some chicks a few weeks ago, but I sold them. I'll see if she will send me an updated pic. At least one was a sizzle. :)

They are still a bit nervous so they wouldn't come out of the bamboo, I'll try get better pics later when they have calmed down

The one in the first pic is in a cage in my room at the moment, and has been nicknamed "problem case" because s/he keeps attacking the others... picked two of the others raw, and started yanking feathers out of a third, so for now he is in for solitary confinement. Easier to separate one problem case than every other chick. I've read that I should give him some distractions to prevent picking, any other advice? I'd rather have him in the cage outside so he can still pick at the floor, but at only 4 weeks I'm worried that he might get chilled without the others to cuddle up against.
@cabinchicky thanks :) I hope mine turns out to be a proper lavender, would love to have one, maybe can grow from there. For now s/he looks very light so I'm hopeful, but there were no true lavenders in the parent stock, mostly blue, black and white, so I wouldn't be too surprised if it is in fact a splash or something of that nature.

IMO I "think" the first pic is a blue cockerel. The other two look (at this age) like 2 pullets...Splash & perhaps Mottled.
