Cochin Thread!!!

Hoping you Cochin experts can help ease my curiosity. I have been convinced that I had one rooster among my six 8 week olds. Then suddenly "Millie" started growing comb and wattles. They are still orange like the other 4 "girls" but much bigger. Posting pics of Harley (who I'm sure is cockerel), Millie who is the question mark and Sophie who I'm sure is a girl.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance. If I have 2 roos I need to decide which one is staying. And that's going to be a tough choice

My best guess is you have two cockerels, sorry. Very pretty though!

I love them! I was told they arent recognized colors but they are so pretty and so sweet but I just cant keep any more roosters.

That's what I'm thinking too :( Harley is bossy and I'm afraid he may turn out being trouble. The breeder told me after I purchased them that he got rid of his hen and rooster as the rooster was a people attacker. I have been trying to handle Harley while he's young and get him to trust me. But if he turns mean he's gotta go. Millie/Willie is quiet and shy and not aggressive with the others at all...so I guess I at least have options. I have a teeny tiny OEGB rooster that thinks he's a giant. And they all free range so this could get interesting lol

Look to be some very handsome boys.

I think he's just trying to be the top of the pecking order. Hopefully he won't be mean.

I love these guys so much but I'm 98% sure they are both boys :-(

The cockerel in the first picture appears to be a Splash Mottled and the cockerel in front in the second picture looks to be a Splash. Splash is in fact a recognized variety, and was admitted to the Standard in 2014. Splash Mottled is not yet a recognized variety, however "non-standard" varieties can still be shown but cannot advance to compete in classes outside of their variety.
