I would wait to get a few more and actually check if they're fertile. Also do you mean the first egg ever if so I would wait at least a month to let the eggs become properly sized
I've heard people say that, and others that do first eggs, with no problems. The project chick has been laying since Christmas, so I set her most recent 10 eggs, cracked open her first 2, and they were fertile.
I candled all the eggs and don't see any double yolks and shell quality looks good. Size is decent in my mind, so i already added them. If they develop, fine. If not, that's ok too.
Eta - yes the other cochin egg is her first. I also got a first from one of my seramas today, and added it to the bator too. It's full now. :yiipchick
