Cochin Thread!!!

Hi :) beautiful birds :) I'm new to this site and new to having chickens. I just picked up these 2 cuties last night and told they were Cochins bantams but they don't look like any I've seen. The closest is the partridge and they don't have any fuzz on there legs or feet. The woman said they were a week old but they look very small do a week. Thank you for any input :)View attachment 1100152View attachment 1100153
They are not bantam cochins.

Ok. Thank you. All I know is she said she only had Rhode Island reds and Cochins so maybe there mixed? I tried asking her again but no reply. So I guess it's a wait and see :) thank you again.

Hey, someone is not being honest with you. I understand as I hatched eggs recently for LF Cochin and of the 4 that were fertile, one had completely non-Cochin legs&feet.
Cochin should look very feathered on legs and feet. I think of it like they are wearing pants. I recognize these chicks though. Why not check the thread on "what breed is this?".

Annjee's right, cochin's always have feathered feet. And I don't think they're RIR mixed either. (Although I could be wrong). I've seen chicks with practically this exact coloring at the feed mill all the time. I just wish I remember what the name is. @Bethyboochickens can you get a picture of them with a little more perspective? Like next to their waterer or food dish for scale?

In the other pic I thought he & she looked grey. In this pic, I'm seeing brown. Are these Welsummer chicks? I have only purchased them once and never reared them. Plus others have similar coloring. So I could be way off. I'm hoping those who have more experience with this breed can jump in. Probably better on the other thread. I'm sorry they aren't Cochin. I have had no luck finding them, a little better finding eggs.

Welsummer have yellow legs, my thought was they were bantam game.

This is what a partridge cochin bantam would look like at a similar age. There are plenty of different breeds yours could be, as this is showing the typical wild type base genes that make them look like a chipmunk.

Thank you. I've been on stop googling and I found 2 chicken that the chicks look identical. West summers and old English game. If my chicks had fuzz on there feet I'd think possibly Cochin but the have bare little legs lol. I just hope what ever kind they are they are good with my silkies. I'm hoping since they are growing up together they will be good together.
